United World Wrestling (UWW) Chief Nenad Lalovic has stated that “nothing can be done” regarding Vinesh Phogat’s disqualification from the Paris Olympics 2024. Phogat was disqualified for being 100 grams overweight during the weigh-in before the women’s freestyle 50 kg final. Lalovic expressed sympathy for Phogat but emphasized that rules must be strictly followed. He clarified that awarding her a silver medal is impossible due to changes in the competition brackets and confirmed that the final will proceed without her. The gold medal match will now feature Cuba’s Yusneylis Guzman Lopez.
