Muhammad Yunus, head of Bangladesh's interim government, has condemned recent attacks on minorities, especially Hindus, as “heinous.” Yunus, speaking at Begum Rokeya University, said, “Are they (minorities) not the people of this country? You must say, 'No one can harm them. They are my brothers; we fought together, and we will stay together.’” He warned that the attacks could be a deliberate effort to disrupt progress. Over 200 attacks on minorities have been reported since the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government. Thousands of Bangladeshi Hindus are fleeing to India to escape the violence.
