Ukraine’s army chief Oleksandr Syrskyi has announced that Ukrainian forces now control approximately 1,000 square kilometres of Russia’s Kursk region. This marks the first mention of the Kursk region by Ukrainian officials. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy shared a video excerpt of Syrskyi's report on Telegram, highlighting the recent significant attack on Russian territory. Last Tuesday, Ukrainian troops breached the Russian border and advanced into western Kursk, revealing vulnerabilities in Russia’s border defenses. This development represents one of Ukraine's largest incursions into Russian territory since the conflict began.
