Ioan Pintaru, 32, has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a bladed article after allegedly stabbing an 11-year-old girl in Leicester Square, London. The girl, who was found with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, was taken to hospital. Initial reports incorrectly suggested her mother was also injured. Pintaru, who has no fixed address, has been remanded in custody and will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court. A shop security guard intervened, restraining Pintaru and administering first aid to the child before police arrived.
