Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called for punishment for those responsible for recent violent protests. In an emotional three-page statement shared by her son on X, she condemned the destruction and deaths caused by the unrest. Hasina said, “For those involved in this slaughter, this destruction, I demand that investigations be held and they be caught and given appropriate punishment.” She also demanded justice for the vandalism of her father Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's statue. Recalling her family's tragic loss in 1975, she urged citizens to observe August 15 as a day of mourning for her father and the nation’s martyrs.
