A high alert was issued in Delhi and other states on Friday amid escalating Israel-Hamas tensions. Heavy police deployment was seen in Delhi during Friday prayers, with security tightened around the Israeli embassy and Jewish sites. Authorities in Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh and Goa were also asked to ensure protection for Israelis. This follows advisories by the US, UK, France and Germany to increase vigilance around potential Jewish targets and pro-Palestinian protests as violence escalates. India has been facilitating return of its citizens from Israel, with the first evacuation flight landing in Delhi early Friday. Over 1,300 Israelis and 1,400 Palestinians have been killed since fighting began on October 7.
