Philippines has confirmed its first mpox case since December 2022, following the recent global alert by the World Health Organization. The patient is a 33-year-old Filipino male who has not traveled outside the country. He initially experienced fever, followed by a rash that spread across his face, body, groin, palms, and soles. The Department of Health (DOH) is currently awaiting the sequencing results to identify the specific strain of the virus. This is the first case reported after the WHO's heightened alert, and the DOH will provide more information as it becomes available.
