Pakistani authorities have arrested Farhan Asif, a 32-year-old freelance web developer, on charges of cyber terrorism. Asif is accused of spreading misinformation on YouTube and Facebook about a British teenager involved in a stabbing attack on July 29 in Southport. The attack, which occurred at a Taylor Swift dance class, resulted in three fatalities and ten injuries. The misinformation spread rapidly online, leading to riots across the UK, including in Liverpool, where numerous police officers were injured and over a thousand people were arrested. Imran Kishwar, deputy inspector general of investigations in Lahore, confirmed the charges against Asif.
