The largest diamond in over a century, weighing 2,492 carats, has been unearthed at the Karowe Mine in Botswana. The gem, discovered using X-ray technology, weighs approximately half a kilogram. Although its value is yet to be determined, a similar but smaller diamond from the same mine sold for sixty-three million dollars in 2016. Botswana’s President Mokgweetsi Masisi expressed amazement upon seeing the stone, calling it "overwhelming." This discovery marks a historic moment for the nation, already known as the world's second-largest producer of natural diamonds.
