A temporary pause in fighting between Israel and Hamas has allowed the UN to start a polio vaccination campaign in Gaza. The campaign aims to vaccinate 156,000 children in central Gaza over the next few days. Health workers began administering the first dose of the vaccine, hoping to reach 90% of children under ten to prevent the spread of the highly contagious virus.
