At least 41 people were killed and over 180 injured after two Russian ballistic missiles struck an educational facility and a nearby hospital in Ukraine's central Poltava region, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported. The attack, one of the deadliest since the conflict began in 2022, left many trapped under rubble. Rescue teams saved 25 people, including 11 pulled from the debris. Ukraine's Defence Ministry condemned the strike as a "barbaric" act. Zelenskyy called for a comprehensive investigation, while rescue operations continued amidst fears that more civilians remain trapped.
