A US Senator confirmed that Israel used an American-made bomb to kill Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut last week. Senator Mark Kelly said Israel deployed a 2,000-pound Mark 84 series bomb, which was guided by a JDAM (Joint Direct Attack Munition) system. This is the first US confirmation of the weapon used in the strike. The Israeli military announced on Saturday that Nasrallah was killed during the attack on his command center in Beirut. Israel has not commented on the type of bomb used. The US is a key ally and major arms supplier to Israel.
