A Kolkata court criticized the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for its "casual approach" in handling the RG Kar hospital rape case. The CBI had sought extended custody of police inspector Abhijit Mondal and former hospital principal Sandip Ghosh, citing newly recovered data. However, the court denied the request, ordering both accused to remain in judicial custody for four more days. The defense argued that no interrogation had occurred during prior custody. The next hearing is scheduled for October 4.
