Indigenous communities in Brazil’s Amazon are facing severe health risks as record forest fires continue to devastate their protected lands. More than 62,000 square kilometers have burned this year, killing plants, animals, and causing severe respiratory issues. Raimundinha Rodrigues Da Sousa, leading a volunteer fire brigade, expressed concern: "These fires kill everything; next, it will be us." Most fires are linked to illegal activities such as logging and mining. With Brazil experiencing its worst drought ever, the fires are spreading rapidly, further threatening indigenous lives and worsening climate damage worldwide.
