Junior doctors in Kolkata are protesting the alleged rape and murder of a 31-year-old doctor at RG Kar Medical College. Six doctors have begun an indefinite hunger strike, demanding justice for the victim and urgent safety measures. Their demands include the removal of West Bengal’s health secretary, NS Nigam, and the establishment of a centralized referral system in all hospitals. Protesters accuse the state government of neglecting their safety concerns. "None can say our demands are wrong," said Dr. Aqeeb, one of the striking doctors. The government has yet to respond to their demands.
