At least 28 people were killed in an Israeli air strike on Rufaida al-Aslamia school in Gaza, which was sheltering displaced families, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent. The strike, in the town of Deir al-Balah, also injured over 50 people. The Israeli military stated that the "precise" strike targeted Hamas fighters operating from a command center within the school. Gaza's health ministry condemned the attack, calling it a "new massacre." Schools in Gaza have been used as shelters since the conflict began in October 2023.
