Asmaa Al-Wasifi, a mother in Gaza, mourns the loss of her 10-year-old son, Yamen, who was killed in an Israeli strike before receiving his second polio vaccine. Yamen, along with four cousins, was killed on September 24 when Israel hit their family home in the Nuseirat camp. The United Nations had begun a second round of polio vaccinations in Gaza, despite ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. Yamen’s grandmother, Zakeya, who lost 10 family members, called for an end to the war, seeking safety and security for Gaza’s 2.3 million residents.
