China has sent two giant pandas, a male named Bao Li and a female named Qing Bao, to the Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington, D.C., marking a significant diplomatic gesture between the two nations. The three-year-old pandas arrived at Virginia's Dulles International Airport on Tuesday. They join a small number of giant pandas remaining in the U.S., following the return of most pandas to China under prior agreements. This shipment comes after the National Zoo returned its last three pandas last November, highlighting the ongoing efforts to maintain panda populations in both countries.
