Lucy Connolly, wife of UK Conservative councillor Raymond Connolly, has been jailed for 31 months for stirring up racial hatred on social media. After the Southport stabbings in July, Connolly posted on X, calling for "mass deportation" and for hotels housing asylum seekers to be set on fire. The post, viewed 310,000 times, spread false information and led to unrest across the UK. Connolly later apologized, admitting she acted on “false and malicious” claims. Sentencing her, the judge said the comments fueled division and violence during an already volatile situation.
