Italian surfer Giulia Manfrini, 36, tragically died after being impaled by a swordfish while surfing in Indonesia's Mentawai Islands on October 19. Witnesses attempted to aid her before she was taken to a local medical center, where she was found with a 5 cm stab wound to her chest. Despite efforts from her partner and medical staff, she could not be saved. Manfrini, co-founder of AWAVE Travel, was remembered for her passion for life and adventure. Her death has left the local community and her loved ones in deep grief.
