The FBI disrupted an Iranian murder-for-hire plot targeting President-elect Donald Trump before this week's presidential election. The Justice Department unsealed charges on November 8, revealing a plan allegedly orchestrated by an unnamed Iranian Revolutionary Guard official. According to the complaint filed in Manhattan federal court, the official directed Farjad Shakeri in September to develop a plan for Trump's assassination. Shakeri reportedly informed the FBI he couldn’t act within the official's seven-day deadline. Federal officials highlighted this plot as part of Iran's ongoing efforts to target U.S. officials, especially Trump, on American soil.
