Five Maoists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Abujhmad, Bastar, Chhattisgarh, on Saturday morning. The operation began after intelligence confirmed the presence of Maoists in the region. The exchange of fire lasted for hours, resulting in the deaths of five Maoists and the seizure of weapons. Two jawans were injured but are out of danger. The operation was conducted by the District Reserve Guards (DRG), Special Task Force (STF), and Border Security Force (BSF). With this encounter, the death toll of Maoists in the Bastar region this year has reached 197, the highest since 2000.
