Bangladesh has started removing the image of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the country’s founding father, from its currency notes. This decision follows the ousting of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the establishment of an interim government led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus. New notes, including Taka 20, 100, 500, and 1,000, will feature elements of the July uprising and Bengali traditions instead. The image of Rahman, often called "Bangabandhu," will be excluded from redesigned banknotes. The changes come after protests targeted his statues and murals, highlighting political tensions in the country.
