After six months of violence in Manipur, the state government has managed to recover only about a quarter of the stolen arms and less than 5 per cent of the missing ammunition during the peak in May, as reported by The Indian Express. Roughly 1,500 out of the approximately 5,600 looted arms and around 20,000 rounds out of the 6.5 lakh missing ammunition have been returned to the police. This remains the case even though Chief Minister Biren Singh has repeatedly threatened action against those in possession of illegal weapons. (Image: Indian Express)
