India voted in favor of a UN resolution condemning Israeli settlement activities in occupied Palestinian territory. The draft resolution was approved by 145 nations on Thursday. Only 7 countries - including Israel, the US and Canada - voted against it, while 18 abstained. The resolution titled "Israeli settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territory" refers to settlements in East Jerusalem and the Golan Heights. An Indian politician called Israel's occupation of Palestine through settlers illegal and said Israeli apartheid must end. Last month, India had abstained from a UN resolution on the Israel-Hamas conflict that didn't mention Hamas. India's vote in favor of condemning Israeli settlements signals its stance on the issue.
