In a pivotal development from updates last received, Hamas has released 24 hostages on Day 1 of the temporary truce, including 13 Israelis, 10 Thai nationals, and 1 citizen from the Philippines. The Red Cross confirmed the safe transfer of the hostages. Qatar's Foreign Minister, Majed Al Ansari in a post on social media confirmed the numbers, "Those released include 13 Israeli citizens, some of whom are dual citizens, in addition to 10 Thai citizens and a Filipino citizen." The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have confirmed that the Israeli hostages freed from Gaza are now in Israel and have undergone medical checks. The IDF said, "The released hostages underwent an initial medical assessment inside Israeli territory. They will continue to be accompanied by IDF soldiers as they make their way to Israeli hospitals, where they will be reunited with their families." As part of the broader truce, Israel is expected to release 39 Palestinians today including 24 women and 15 teenage boys. Tensions rise outside Israel's Ofer military jail as the prisoners, including women convicted of attempted murder and teenagers jailed for offenses like stone-throwing, will be handed over to the Red Cross.
