Three college students of Palestinian descent—Hisham Awartani, Kinnan Abdel Hamid, and Tahseen Ahmed—aged 20, were shot near the University of Vermont, raising concerns of a hate crime. The victims, all graduates of the Ramallah Friends School in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, were targeted by a gunman who fled the scene. Two of the students, U.S. citizens, and the third, a legal resident, were reportedly speaking Arabic when attacked. The assailant, without uttering a word, fired four shots after harassing them. Authorities actively pursue the suspect, as victims' families and advocacy groups call for a thorough investigation into the shooting as a hate crime. [ photo courtesy: X/@hzomlot ]
