The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has declared a holiday for all government, private and civic-run schools and colleges in Mumbai on Monday after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for heavy rainfall. The decision was taken to ensure the safety of students as the city is expected to receive heavy showers and gusty winds. However, government and private offices will remain open. Mumbai has witnessed continuous rainfall over the past few days, causing waterlogging, traffic disruptions and tree-fall incidents.
