Egypt has lodged an official complaint with FIFA, demanding an investigation into the refereeing during its dramatic 3-2 FIFA World Cup Round of 16 defeat to Argentina. The Egyptian Football Association said several key decisions, including a disallowed goal after a VAR review and a rejected penalty appeal, unfairly influenced the match. Egypt had led 2-0 before Argentina staged a late comeback to reach the quarter-finals. EFA president Hany Abo Rida has also sought action against referee François Letexier and his officiating team. FIFA has not yet issued an official response to the complaint.
