Canada's Indian-origin Foreign Minister Anita Anand visited Pakistan, becoming the first Canadian foreign minister to do so in nearly two decades, and announced more than $47 million in security and development assistance. During her one-day visit, Anand held talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, clean energy, security and development. Both countries agreed to institutionalise bilateral engagement through regular consultations and closer ministerial coordination. The visit also advanced discussions on agricultural trade, clean energy investments and a bilateral investment protection pact, while regional security and counterterrorism remained key topics on the agenda.
