The Royal Navy announces that its Wildcat maritime attack helicopters are set for significant transformation in 2024. Upgrades include Martlet missiles for boat swarms, Sting Ray torpedoes for submarine warfare, and Sea Venom missiles for larger surface targets. Equipped with a .50 calibre machine gun, and able to host Royal Marines sniper teams, the Wildcat fleet is enhanced after nearly a decade in service. The Yeovilton-based Wildcat Maritime Force (WMF), comprising 400 personnel and 28 Wildcats, plays a key role. Notably, the integration of the Link 16 system allows seamless communication within NATO’s network.
