The United Nations verifies that Hafiz Saeed, mastermind of the Mumbai terror attack, is serving a 78-year prison term in Pakistan for seven terror financing convictions, as reported by PTI. Designated a global terrorist by the UN Security Council, Saeed has been in Pakistani custody since February 2020. India had sought Saeed's extradition in December 2023. Additionally, the Sanctions Committee notes the confirmed death of Hafiz Abdul Salam Bhuttavi, LeT founding member and Saeed's deputy, who played a key role in training attackers for the 2008 Mumbai terror attack. Bhuttavi passed away in prison in May last year.
