Expired Milk, Fungus Found at Several Bengaluru Five-Star Hotels

Food safety officials found expired milk, rotten vegetables and poor hygiene at several five-star hotels in Bengaluru. The Food Safety and Drug Administration Department inspected 26 three-star and five-star hotels on August 7. Officials found expired dairy and bakery items, meat, fish and vegetables. Some food had fungal growth. Hotels were also found storing vegetarian and non-vegetarian food together and violating labelling rules. At The Lalit Ashok, officials seized 76 kg of meat and 200 kg of vegetables. The Radisson Blu saw the biggest seizure, with 105 kg of expired food products. Officials collected 35 samples for testing.
