India’s youth employment crisis is increasingly centred on the availability and quality of jobs, according to the latest India Today Mood of the Nation survey. About 32% of respondents identified a lack of jobs as the biggest employment challenge facing young Indians. 18% cited low salaries, while 17% each said jobs often do not match qualifications or that government recruitment is too slow or unreliable. The survey also found strong expectations from governments to address the problem. 63% of respondents said the Union and state governments should take primary responsibility for improving youth employability. Schools and universities followed at 14%, private employers at 9%, and individuals and families at 5%. (PC: PTI)
