At least seven unidentified bodies have been recovered from the Gandak (Narayani) River in Uttar Pradesh’s Maharajganj and Kushinagar districts following devastating floods in Nepal. In Maharajganj, three women and a man were found in the Telphal area and retrieved by Sashastra Seema Bal personnel during river surveillance operations. In Kushinagar, villagers spotted three more bodies—two women and a man—near the Chhitauni embankment. Police, SDRF and local officials recovered the remains and transferred them to mortuaries. Authorities are working to establish the identities of the victims, who are suspected to have been swept downstream from Nepal. (PC: X)
