The Chandigarh administration has suspended the licences of ride-hailing companies Uber and Rapido for six months over alleged violations of rules. According to the administration, both companies failed to comply with the prescribed regulations despite receiving repeated notices, show-cause notices and several opportunities to present their cases over more than a year. The action comes after authorities gave the companies multiple chances to address the alleged violations. The suspension will remain in effect for six months. The administration said the decision was taken after the companies failed to comply with the applicable rules despite prolonged proceedings and repeated communication from the authorities.
