New Delhi has intensified security arrangements ahead of the BRICS Summit, with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping receiving heightened protection. Putin, expected on September 11, will be guarded by a four-layer security cordon comprising his Close Protection Team, senior Delhi Police officers, commandos and paramilitary forces, and local police. Around 25–30 Russian security personnel are also expected to accompany him. Xi, arriving on September 12, will have special protection coordinated by the Delhi Police Special Cell. Hotel employees have been verified, while routes to Bharat Mandapam have been finalised and rehearsed. (PC: India Today)
