Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday inaugurated SEMICON India 2026 at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi, positioning the country as a reliable destination for global chip manufacturing. "The world needs new and trusted locations for chip manufacturing and India is preparing itself for this," Modi said. He added that 12 semiconductor projects have been approved so far, with more expected in the next phase. The fifth edition of the event, themed "Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem," has drawn over 600 exhibitors and delegates from 40-plus countries.
