Jharkhand-based Naxal commander Brijesh Ganjhu, alias Gopal Singh, was killed in a police encounter in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday morning, September 20. Ganjhu was reportedly the chief of the banned Tritiya Prastuti Committee (TPC) in Jharkhand and carried a total bounty of ₹30 lakh—₹25 lakh from the Jharkhand government and ₹5 lakh from the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Police said he was wanted in several cases. The encounter followed intelligence inputs about his presence in Varanasi.
