The Cabinet Secretariat has declined to take direct action on complaints filed by Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi against Senior Deputy Election Commissioner Maneesh Garg, according to documents released under the Right to Information (RTI) Act. The commissioners alleged that Garg changed work allocations among senior officials without consulting the Commission or obtaining prior approval. They argued that the changes violated established procedures and relevant legal provisions. The Secretariat said the complaints were submitted individually, not on behalf of the entire Commission, and warned that intervention could compromise the Election Commission’s constitutional independence.
