Ravi Tamta, a Bachelor of Arts graduate from Uttarakhand’s Almora district, has developed a prototype electric flying vehicle after 13 years of self-directed learning and experimentation, despite having no formal engineering education. His single-seater vehicle, named HAPIDA SKYNeX, completed a test flight in August 2026, according to India Today. Tamta acquired technical knowledge through online resources and hands-on experiments, with support from his family. His journey highlights how independent learning can enable people without conventional technical qualifications to pursue ambitious innovations. However, developing aviation technology also requires attention to safety and engineering standards. Tamta’s project challenges conventional assumptions about who can innovate and where technical learning can begin. (PC: X)
