Several people were injured after vehicles in Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s convoy collided with an ambulance on the Purvanchal Expressway in Uttar Pradesh on Monday. The accident occurred near Haliyapur in Sultanpur district while Gandhi was travelling from Lucknow to attend a court hearing in a 2018 defamation case involving Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Police said a vehicle ahead suddenly applied the brakes, causing vehicles behind it to collide. Reports said party workers and security personnel were among those injured. Gandhi’s car was not involved, and he remained safe. The convoy later continued towards Sultanpur for the court proceedings.
