Ravi Tamta, a Bachelor of Arts graduate from Uttarakhand’s Almora district, has developed a single-seater electric flying vehicle after 13 years of self-learning and experimentation. His prototype, named HAPIDA SKYNeX, completed a test flight in August 2026. Without formal engineering education, Tamta relied on online resources and practical experiments to turn his idea into reality. The vehicle is designed to take off and land vertically, potentially helping people travel across difficult mountain terrain. Tamta hopes his invention can improve access to remote areas, including during medical emergencies. Further testing and regulatory approvals are needed before operational use. (PC: X)
