India’s drug price regulator has reduced the maximum retail prices of 543 cancer drug brands and pack sizes. Some medicines are now over 90% cheaper. The price of one palbociclib brand has fallen from Rs 40,421 to Rs 2,720. The cost of a thiotepa vial has dropped from around Rs 80,072 to Rs 7,150. The revised prices will take effect on November 9. However, costly medicines such as Keytruda remain unchanged at Rs 2,16,500. The move aims to make cancer treatment more affordable, as high medicine costs continue to burden patients and families.
