TikTok has initiated the removal of additional music from its platform amid an ongoing dispute with Universal Music Group (UMG) over royalties. Beyond silencing songs by UMG-signed artists, the platform is now muting tracks written by Universal-affiliated songwriters, affecting popular artists like Harry Styles and Adele. Approximately 30% of "popular songs" could be impacted, but industry estimates suggest up to 80% of all TikTok music might be muted due to "split copyrights."
