Submarine internet cables in the Red Sea have been reportedly cut, leading to significant disruptions in communications networks across the Middle East. Hong Kong-based telecoms company HGC Global Communications confirmed that cables belonging to four major operators were affected, potentially impacting internet traffic in India, Pakistan, and parts of East Africa. While the cause of the cuts remains undisclosed, Yemen denies any involvement, citing efforts to keep submarine cables away from risks. Repair work is expected to commence in a month, with ongoing security concerns in the region possibly causing further delays.
