The Spanish ship Open Arms successfully delivered 200 tonnes of food aid to Gaza via a barge, marking the first sea delivery amidst the region's dire famine situation. Coordinated by World Central Kitchen (WCK) and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the aid included essential supplies like rice, flour, and canned goods. Despite challenges with Gaza's lacking port infrastructure, a makeshift jetty facilitated the unloading process. If deemed successful, this trial could pave the way for more sea deliveries to address Gaza's urgent humanitarian needs amidst ongoing conflict and logistical hurdles in aid distribution.
