In a tragic incident, seven Pakistan Army soldiers, including a Lieutenant Colonel and a Captain, were killed in a terrorist attack on a security check post in North Waziristan. Six terrorists launched multiple suicide attacks, but were all neutralized by the troops during a clearance operation. The terrorists first attempted intrusion and then rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into the post. The soldiers, Lieutenant Colonel Syed Kashif Ali and Captain Muhammad Ahmed Badar, lost their lives during the intense exchange of fire. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur condemned the attack. Pakistan saw a concerning rise in violence in 2023, with over 1,500 fatalities.
