Shah accused the opposition of spreading misinformation for political gain ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The CAA, implemented on March 11, grants citizenship to undocumented non-Muslim migrants from neighboring countries. Shah clarified that the CAA is not linked to the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and urged opposition parties to stop alarming minorities. He emphasized that the CAA fulfills promises made during India's independence era.
