In response to a water supply crisis, Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) imposed fines totaling Rs 1.1 lakh on 22 citizens within three days for misusing potable water. Activities like car washing were banned, and fines were issued immediately upon violation, with most cases found in southeast Bengaluru. The restrictions, enacted in the second week of March, prohibit water usage for non-drinking purposes such as gardening, construction, and entertainment. BWSSB officers enforced the measures, emphasizing the severity of the situation and the need for conservation.
